Volvo owners appreciate their key fob's handy remote that comes with features. They can lock and unlock their car, start the motor, and even find it using the smartphone app.

Place the fob's front up on a clean surface. Find the button to let it go. Put a coin between the fob cover and the fob, and carefully pull up.

Unlocking the Door

Turning Off the Alarm

Modern key fobs provide an array of benefits over a traditional mechanical car key. However, they aren't able to function in a perfect way for a long time, and their batteries will eventually fail. Choose a clean, flat surface and lay out your key fob, battery, and any other keys. Find the small black button in the lower left corner of the key fob and slide it to the right. The cover should loosen and fall off leaving the key's mechanical blade beneath it.

You can open all doors and the rear gate by pressing the unlock button on the key fob twice. By pressing the lock button for two seconds, you can also close the windows and shut the sunroof when they're equipped. Reconnect the battery, and the alarm should stop. If it doesn't, the owners manual should have a way to reset the system.
