French-door fridges combine form and function. They come with elegant double doors that open to reveal a large fridge on top and a freezer drawer below. Special features like through-the-door dispensers, higher-end ice machines, and customizable flex drawers make them stand out from the rest.

We contacted Ladina Schopf - an interior designer, architect and founder of LS Projects - for her tips on how to select the right home. They considered storage capacity and layout and energy efficiency as well as other factors.

As the name suggests, the GE Profile series targets the consumer who wants to incorporate cutting-edge technology in their kitchen. The refrigerator is brimming with these, from an inside-the-door Keurig K-cup coffee maker to a sophisticated water dispenser. But these flourishes don't mask mediocre performance, especially in the refrigerator's freezer and an ineffective temperature-controlled drawer. This refrigerator is costly, so I expected better.

This refrigerator is a good choice, despite the blip. It has a huge freezer compartment, which is unusual for counter-depth French-door refrigerators. It also has a large capacity for frozen food items compared to other models.

The fridge comes with 17 shelves and compartments. The fridge compartment offers 18.5 cubic feet of space, which is roughly on the same as a French door refrigerator that costs this much. It also has a decent sized ice maker that is tucked away in the left door, though it's not the largest I've seen.

You can alter the shelves in both compartments to create a an individual storage solution. The interior design of the GE PYE22PYNFS is also attractive. The LED lighting is a nice touch. The storage bins in the door come with a third shelf that can be folded down to store large items. The drawers come with temperature controls so you can set them for Beverage, Meat, or Deli settings. They're easy to open and close, but I found their textured plastic coatings a bit hard on the fingers.

The GE PGE29BYTFS Smart Refrigerator has all the features you would expect from a refrigerator within this price range. It has Wi-Fi, app support and GE's SmartHQ Software. The app is compatible with iOS and Android devices and lets you manage your refrigerator from anywhere around the world. It also has numerous options for customizing. It will also send you notifications when the door is unlocked as well as when the freezer or fridge must be defrosted and when the filter requires a change.

It would be nice if the GE PYE22PYNFS came with Precise Fill which is an option that is available in other GE fridges that allow you to preset how many cups of water you'd like to disperse at once. It does offer a countdown on the fridge's display to show how much water you have remaining, but that's not as helpful as Precise fill.

Bosch Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

The Bosch French-door Refrigerator is a stunning piece of equipment. It's designed to look like it's a seamless component in your kitchen. The fridge uses fingerprint-resistant stainless steel, which is a great feature for busy households. It also comes with a veggie compartment that keeps vegetables and fruits fresher longer and dual compressors for the best food preservation. The ice maker we tested is one of the most efficient, and it produces pyramid shaped ice using minimal water. This fridge is ideal for a small household or a kitchenette that wants an attractive design and top of the line food preservation.

This fridge was rated the best in our Refrigerators Test for a variety of reasons. The temperature of the freezer remained stable at just above 0 degrees Fahrenheit, and never moving by more than a fraction a degree--this is key to preventing freezer burn. The fridge's refrigerator section also performed well, achieving the desired initial set temperature within a matter of hours and keeping the temperature constant over the course of our testing.

Bosch is known for its premium appliances, so it's no surprise that this counter-depth refrigerator is also a smart appliance with the option of connecting to your home Wi-Fi network and Bosch's Home Connect platform. This app allows you to monitor and control your fridge from your tablet or smartphone. The refrigerator is expensive, but it offers top-quality features and functions for the price.

While the fridge is a fantastic piece of equipment but it's important to be aware of the limitations. You might need to be creative with tall items because the fridge has a limited shelf space. The shelves are not resistant to spills and are easily damaged or stained by sharp objects. It's simple to remove the refrigerator trays however, you must clean them regularly to prevent the growth of mold.

LG Counter Depth french door fridge costco Door Refrigerator

The LG LRFLC2706S counter-depth fridge is a great option for those who need plenty of space in an extremely compact frame. It has a sleek, fingerprint-resistant stainless-steel finish and features thick handles that make them comfortable to grip. The fridge has the standard French door layout, with two rows of shelving with spill-capture and a set of crisper drawers. The top right shelf can be folded down to give taller items more space. You'll also find a full-width drawer for deli items and an internal water dispenser.

This refrigerator is equipped with an ice maker making it simple to transfer frozen ice as needed. The freezer features thoughtful design elements, too, like sliding drawers that help better organize the position of your items. It comes with a large bin for storing frozen food, and a separate container for ice.

Another cool feature of this refrigerator is its Smart InstaView panel. You can control the temperature, lighting, and other aspects of your fridge using your smartphone. It's a good way to monitor and manage your refrigerator, particularly if you're away from home.

The Smart InstaView feature is neat, but it doesn't necessarily improve the performance of the fridge. The refrigerator took longer to chill food and defrost it than some others we test. This is likely due to the larger capacity.

The other issue we have with this refrigerator is its doors. The handles with a sunken design allow shorter people to open them from the bottom. However, taller people still have a hard time closing them without slamming them. It would have been much better if they came with a front-mounted handle.

The LG Counter-Depth MAX fridge is an excellent option for those looking to combine the look and feel of a French-door refrigerator with a more efficient design. Its capacity is superior for a counter-depth model, and it cools well and has a nice layout. It's also less expensive than the best french fridge freezer uk counter-depth refrigerators that have an ice maker, which helps make it an attractive option.

Frigidaire Counter Depth French Door Refrigerator

If you're looking for a French door refrigerator that won't cost you a fortune and isn't expensive, this Frigidaire is a solid option. It's a basic refrigerator that might not be as eye-catching like some of its competitors however it has enough features to make it a good choice. Its most important feature, the adjustable temperature drawer, helps to keep food items such as vegetables and meat fresher longer. It also has a large water dispenser, as well as an excellent Ice machine that is fast.

The "Chill Drawer", which is located over the two crisper bins, is another nice feature. The drawer lets you redirect a portion of the fridge's cooling power into this area, so it can be used to store food items that require special attention. You can adjust the feature using the slider located on the outside of the drawer. You can also adjust the general cooling settings for the entire fridge. I've found that the generic settings are more effective than the specific ones.

During my tests, the temperatures of the refrigerator were fairly consistent across all areas of the fridge. The temperatures in the top, bottom and middle of the fridge didn't differ significantly from 38 degrees. This is a great performance, but it doesn't quite rank among the best in our rankings.

This fridge has a few other neat features, including a temperature-monitoring display that alerts you to fluctuations and provides a forecast for the day ahead. The fridge can be linked with a smart thermostat in order to get more accurate readings on the internal temperature of your fridge.

The exterior of the Frigidaire is made from gray-bodied stainless with a "smudge proof" finish. It does an excellent job of preventing streaks and fingerprints from appearing even when compared with glossy stainless steel finishes on other appliances I've tried.
